Cold Sore Precaution:
If you’ve ever had a cold sore, you must take an antiviral medication (e.g., Valtrex, Zovirax, or Famvir) prescribed by your doctor before your lip blush procedure. Cold sores can be triggered by the procedure, and antiviral medication is required to prevent outbreaks. Take the medication for 5 days (2 days before, 1 day of, and 2 days after the procedure). No exceptions.

Pre-Care for Lips:

  • Start antiviral medication 2 days before the procedure if you've had cold sores.
  • Avoid working out, alcohol, caffeine, and stimulants 48 hours before.
  • Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning for 1 week before.
  • Stop taking aspirin, Advil, or supplements (like fish oil, vitamin E) 48 hours prior.
  • No Retin-A or AHA for 6 weeks.
  • Hydrate your lips (use Aquaphor or Vaseline) and exfoliate the week before.
  • Wait 6 months after lip fillers before getting a lip tattoo.

Post-Care for Lips:

  • Apply ointment to lips several times daily for at least 10 days to keep them moist.
  • Do not pick or rub – it’s normal to itch.
  • Avoid soaps, hot drinks, and stretching lips for 10 days.
  • Do not kiss or have friction on lips for 10 days.
  • Avoid water on your lips (when showering or washing your face) for the first 7 days.
  • No swimming or hot baths for 4 weeks.
  • Use a straw for drinks and avoid oily or spicy foods.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and tanning for 4 weeks.
  • No smoking for at least 10 days.

Additional Tips:

  • Expect swelling for 1-3 days and some fading (up to 50%) during healing.
  • Lips may feel dry for 3-6 months.
  • Follow all pre- and post-care instructions to ensure the best healing and results.

Important: We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for clients who don’t follow the care instructions. If not followed, service may be denied, and future appointments could be affected.

  1. Keep the Area Clean & Open – Do not cover with a Band-Aid or anything else. Air helps with faster healing. Clean the area 3-4 times daily using Li-FT® Home Care Wash on a damp, lint-free pad.

  2. Avoid Water Exposure – Do not soak the area. Shower as usual but keep the treated area out of direct water spray. If it gets wet, gently pat dry immediately.

  3. No Baths, Swimming, Saunas, Hot Tubs, Tanning, or Exercise – Strictly avoid activities that cause sweating or prolonged water exposure.

  4. Let Scabs Fall Off Naturally – No picking, scratching, or touching the scabs. This could cause scarring and interfere with healing.

  5. Handle with Care – Avoid anything that could irritate or damage the treated area.

  6. Apply Healing Oil After Scabbing – Once all scabs have naturally fallen off, apply one drop of Li-FT® Heal Care Oil 3-4 times daily for at least 4 weeks or until your next session. If you don’t have Li-FT® Heal Care Oil, Vitamin E Oil can be used.

  7. Lips – Use a straw for drinking until all scabs fall off. Brush with non-whitening, non-peroxide toothpaste like Tom’s of Maine or Classic Crest. Cut food into small bites and minimize mouth movements.

Important Notes:

  • Healing takes 8 full weeks before another session can be done. No exceptions.
  • Lightening unwanted pigment is a gradual process and may take 2 to 5 sessions depending on pigment depth, saturation, and skin type.
  • Some cases may require only partial lightening before color correction can be done. If pigment is misplaced, full lightening may be needed.
  • Results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
  • If you notice green or yellow pus or have concerns during healing, contact us immediately.
